I have asked students to share their agenda with you on a daily basis and to have their agenda signed. This will help to keep the flow of information between home and school open. Thanks.
Morning Meeting Our class will be participating in morning meetings 3 times per cycle. During the morning meeting, students learn how to greet one another, share opinions and experiences, ask questions, listen to each other and build a sense of community in our classroom. Morning Meetings will take place on days 2, 4 and 6
Active Start Days 1, 3 and 5 are our Active Start days. When the weather is nice, we will be going outside for active start. Indoor activities will be planned when the weather does not permit us to be outdoors.
Reading:
Students are asked to read at home each night for at least 20 minutes.
Snack:
Instead of designating a specific time for snack, students will be permitted to eat small, healthy snacks while working in the classroom. Students may bring these snacks into the classroom with them in the morning and eat them at appropriate times (i.e. independent reading or work time, while listening to a story or instructions). There will be times when eating will not be permitted due to activities that we are doing. The key here is that snacks must be healthy and must be easy to eat. I ask that finger foods such as crackers, cheese, vegetables or fruit be sent for these times as it can easily be eaten while working. Food that requires spoons will be better for lunch time.
Healthy snacks will help students to focus and concentrate throughout the school day. Please do not sent items such as fruit by the foot, cookies, rice krispie squares, chocolate coated granola bars and pudding for snack. Students will be asked to save these foods for lunch time.
Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school. Water bottles will come home each day so that they can be sent to school full.
Whenever possible please send snacks in re-usable or recyclable containers.
