Literature Circles
Students have been given a book to read at home during the two weeks they are off. They are to divide the book into four parts, and complete one 'job' for each part.
In case your child was not at school to receive the 'job' package, here is a link to the PDF. You can either print it, or students can complete the job on paper.
60 Second Speech #2
Students are asked to work on writing their second 60 second speech during this time away from school. They can follow the format of the first speech, which included having a 'hook' or opening statement/question, followed by the body of their speech and then a conclusion where they thanked the audience for listening.
The topic for this speech is 'Demonstration'. Students can choose to demonstrate anything they like to do. This can be anything from decorating a cupcake, making a fancy ice cream sundae, making a paper airplane, teaching a skill such as drawing or sports skill.. Anything is fine!
They will share this speech when we are back to school.
60 Second Speech #1
I will be asking students who are not at school this week to have a family member record their 60 second speech and share it with me through SeeSaw. To do this, students will have to log in to See Saw first, then record and share.
Students have been asked to choose a photograph from home that they can give a 60 second speech about. They will work on writing this speech at school and will bring it home to practice reading out loud to you. They will then present this speech to the class, showing the picture at the same time. We are just starting this assignment, and a due date has not been set for the speech presentation. When a presentation date has been chosen, students will write this in their agenda.
